Mrs. LuLu (Yates) Mertz, age 86, of 65 East Lizard Creek Road, Lehighton, Pa., died Monday, October 5, 2009, at Pleasant Trees Assisted Living Center in Lehighton, Pa.

A home maker, Lulu was a member of St. John U.C.C. of Mahoning Twp., Lehighton, Pa.. .

She was the daughter of the late Ephraim and Lulu (Rex) Yates.

She is survived by her

One Son,
Richard E. Mertz and his wife Alice of Lansford, Pa.;

One Sister,
Charlotte (Yates) Grosso of Lehighton, Pa.;

Three grandchildren;
Five great-grandchildren;

Preceded in death by her husband in 1984, Francis Mertz, Sr.; son, Francis Mertz, Jr. in 2006; grandson, Matthew C. Mertz in 2008; brothers, Ephraim, Linberg, and Oliver Yates; sister Betty Yates.

Arrangements are being handled by Holmes - Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., , Lansford, Pa..

Graveside funeral service will be at St. John Mahoning Church Cemetery, Mahoning Twp., Lehighton, Pa. 18235 at 3:30 PM Friday, October 9, 2009, Rev. Marjorie Keiter officiating.
