Louis J. Carpency

March 26, 1925 — March 26, 2008

Mr. Louis J. " Carpy" Carpency, age 83, of 518 Willing Street Tamaqua, Pa., died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center in Allentown, Pa.

He was the husband of Gloria Lafferty (Hlavaty) Carpency and they were married for 59 years.

Born in Coaldale, Pa. he was the son of the late Louis & Mary (Uhrin) Carpency.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Tamaqua and it's Holy Name Society.

Mr. Carpency was employed by Bundy Tubing in the electrical maintenance department retiring in 1982. A United States Navy Veteran, he served in WWII and was a 62 year member of the Coaldale American Legion.


He attended Coaldale High School and graduated from Seton Hall in South Orange , NJ. He was a member of the Panther Valley Golden Age Club, St. Peter's Retirees of Mantzville, and the New Ringgold Senior Citizens Club.


Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Frank M. Carpency and his wife Sindy of Gaithersburg, Maryland and David S. Carpency and his wife Theresa of Allentown Pa.; seven grandchildren: Jobi Westhoven and husband Kevin, Jill Keenan and husband Michael, Mandy Carpency-Schlosburg and husband Russ, Ian Carpency, Scott Carpency, Stacey Carpency, and Kelly Carpency; three great grandchildren: Ryan Keenan, Ethan Schlosburg, and Gavin Keenan.


He was also preceded in death by a brother Frank and a sister Bernadette Carpency.


Calling Hours are Saturday (3-29-2008) from 10-10:45 am at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pa.


Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday at 11 am at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Tamaqua, PA with the Rev. William Linkchorst officiating.


Interment will be at Sky View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, Pa. with full military honors.
