Lois M. Comisac

A woman of great strength and faith, Lois M. Comisac, brought these qualities into her many roles as wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2023 while in the tender care of her family, at the home of her son Steve and his family in Pottsville.

Raised in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Henrietta (Wagner) Moser. Lois was also predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Stephen Comisac Jr.; sisters, Ilene A. Rodgers, Jeanne Perla, Nancy McCartney, Nettie Benson; brothers, Clare, Carl, and Clyde Moser.

Surviving are daughters, Deborah C. Yuskauskas wife of Charlie of Lake Hauto, Cindy C. Williams wife of David “Whitey” of Tamaqua, Lois M. Smarr wife of Andrew of Tamaqua and Barbie Sidoriak wife of John of Delaware; sons, Stephen Comisac, III and his wife Debbie of Pottsville; Marc A. Comisac and his wife Rena of Alabama, Glenn D. Comisac and his wife Sheri of Maryland; 16 grandchildren and their spouses and partners; and 4 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive Lois, as well as her dear sister and friend Laura Voccola of DuBois, Pennsylvania.

A 1950 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Lois matriculated to the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse and serving on the hospital’s staff until 1954. A lifelong, devoted member of Trinity U.C.C. Tamaqua, she was a longtime volunteer of the church's catering society and served several terms as a Deacon. Another lifelong passion was her unwavering support of her beloved New York Yankees. An avid knitter, her “Nana Blankets” have warmed countless newborns on their first journeys, as well as family and friends their lives’ long. Lois was a constant presence at her children’s and grandchildren's school and extracurricular activities, a beaming force of inspiration and pride in numerous galleries, theatres, and stadiums.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and again on the morning of July 13 from 10:00-11:00am at Trinity U.C.C. of Tamaqua. A Service Celebrating Lois’ Life will be held on Thursday July 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity U.C.C., 22 Lafayette Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. The Service will be streamed via Trinity U.C.C.’s Facebook page.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made in her name to Trinity U.C.C. in Tamaqua or the Tamaqua Public Library 30 South Railroad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.

Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
