Lester Adam Gerber, 90 years of age, of Tamaqua, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014, at Hometown Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr., Tamaqua.
Widower of Ruth (Betz) Gerber, who died on March 1, 1994.
Lester retired in 1986 from the Former Atlas Powder Company of Reynolds. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tamaqua. and was active in the United Methodist Men's Brotherhood. Having served in the Army during WWII, Lester maintained membership in the Tamaqua American Legion.
Lester was a volunteer at Miners Memorial Medical Center of Coaldale, and delivered meals for the Tamaqua Meals on Wheels. He also belonged to the Tamaqua Senior Citizens.
Born in West Penn Twp. on October 26, 1923, he was the son of the late Amandus and Mary Jane (Daubenspeck) Gerber.

Brother:
Willard Gerber of Tamaqua;
Niece and caregiver,
Debra Eremus and her husband Andrew of Hometown;
Many nieces and nephews also survive Lester.
Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Pamela Gerber; sister, Stella (Gerber) Faust.
Arrangements are entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
Funeral service will be at E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 11 o'clock AM, Saturday, October 25, 2014, Rev. Susan Daniels to officiate.
A Gathering of Friends shall take place at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.
Interment with Military Honors will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua.
