Mrs. Lena A. (Hill) Sassaman, age 95, of Penn Street Tamaqua, Pa., died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at St. Lukes Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale, Pa, upon arrival.
Lena, was the oldest member of St. John U.C.C. of Tamaqua. She worked for the former Eames Bakery of Tamaqua, and loved to crochet.
Born in West Penn Twp., she was the daughter of the late Alvin and the Bertha (Shupp) Hill.
She is survived by her;
Grandchildren,
Ronald Scott Sassaman, and his wife Dorothy of New Ringgold, and Brenda wife of Timothy Koch of Orwigsburg;
Preceded in death by her Husband, Leonard J. Sassaman in 1982; son, Ronald L. Sassaman in 1994, and his wife Sandra Ann (Steigerwalt) Sassaman in 1986; Brothers, Robbie, Elmer, Ernest, and Lowell Hill; sisters Mrs. Elsie Folk, Mrs. Violet Smith, Mrs. Jennie Kistler, and Mrs. Dorothy Gould.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, July 16, 2010.
Funeral service will be at E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Friday, July 16, 2010, Rev. Kevin Duffy-Guy officiating.
Interment will be at Sky View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, Pa.
