LaRue E. (Ford) Protivnak, wife, mother, and grandmother, age 78, of Mary-D, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Pottsville.
Survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph Protivnak.
A 1952 Tamaqua High School graduate, LaRue retired from the former J.E. Morgan Knitting Mills of Tamaqua.
A member of Holy Cross R.C.C. of New Philadelphia. LaRue enjoyed camping at Pa. Dutch Campground, doing puzzles, and was an avid reader.
Born in Six Mile Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Custer and Olive (Swoke) Ford. LaRue was raised by the late Herman and Martha Wunz.

Nieces and nephews also survive her.
Preceded in death by her sister, Dorthera (Ford) Kauffman; brother, Danny Ford.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, August 19, 2013 and from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM Tuesday, August 20, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross R.C.C., 37 Clay Street, New Philadelphia, Pa., at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 20, 2013, Rev. Ronald Minner to officiate.
Interment will be at Sky-View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, Pa.
