Kristy Lynn

Kristy Lynn (Kunkel) McCarty, age 29, of Weatherly, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Hazleton General Hospital in Hazleton, PA.

A 2002 Weatherly High School graduate, Kristy attended Pennsylvania State University-Hazleton Campus earning an associates degree.

Kristy was an Educational Support Aid for disabled children in the Reading School District until taking ill in 2009.

She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Weatherly and the Weatherly Legion Auxiliary.

Due to her disability, Kristy was mostly confined to her parents home; however, playing games and socializing on her computer kept her busy, along with the companionship of her two dogs, Zoe and Maddie.

Her loving spirit and compassion for all was evidenced by her decision to help others as an organ donor.

Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of Mark H. and Donna (Stefanisko) Kunkel who were her caregivers and with whom she resided.

She is also survived by her,

One Brother,
Kyle M. Kunkel and his wife, Lynzee, of Brandonville;

Paternal grandparents, Maurice and Beverly Kunkel;

Aunts,
Marlene Stefanisko, Melanie Zeigler and, her husband, Joseph; and Debbie Kohler;

Uncle,
Edward Stefanisko;

Cousins,
Ashlee, Brandon and Katie;

Preceded in death by her infant sister, Kayla Kunkel and her maternal grandparents, Edward and Marie Stefanisko.

Her entire family was devoted to her during her illness, especially her grandmother Beverly, and her Aunt Marlene who assisted in her care.


Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First street Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries F.D.

Memorial Services Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11 o'clock AM from Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fell & Third Streets, Weatherly, Rev. Dawn Richie to officiate.

Friends may call in church from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.

Private interment Union Cemetery, Weatherly.
