Kathleen A. "Kathie" Paul

February 4, 1945 — November 14, 2021

Kathleen Ann (Cosgrove) Paul, 76, passed away on November 14, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by loved ones after a difficult year of declining health.

The firstborn child of John and Anna (Gill) Cosgrove, Kathie was born on February 4, 1945 in South Philadelphia where she lived until she moved to the Poconos in 1974, finally settling on 4th Street in Weatherly in 1977. Kathie never left her South Philly roots behind, however, often using colorful language to make her point.

Kathie spent many years in the healthcare industry, first as a nurse and later scheduling pediatric home health services. In her later years, she was proud to say she managed the marriage license process for the Carbon County. If you got married in Carbon County over the past ten years, you probably met Kathie and heard a tale about her life.

Outside of work, Kathie loved to entertain, decorate, bake, garden, and doing the jitterbug in the kitchen. If music was playing, she was singing and dancing. She loved football, and especially the Philadelphia Eagles who won their first Super Bowl on her birthday in 2018.

Kathie was a founding member of Weatherly’s Diamond Divas Red Hat Society chapter and was “Queen of the Diamond Divas” for a time. An outspoken Democrat, she fundraised and supported many local political campaigns. She was a founding member of the Weatherly Festival Planning committee as well as an auxiliary member of the Citizen’s Fire Company No 1.

Her proudest achievement, however, was single-handedly raising her children and watching them become smart, loving, kind adults with children of their own. She taught them strength, resilience, and the importance of family. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.

Kathie leaves behind a legacy of love. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, “surrogate mom”, neighbor and friend to many, always opening her home and her heart when it was needed most.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother, John “Cos” Cosgrove, Jr.

Surviving are her son, Louis Mastroddi, Jr. and his partner, Connie Coniglio; her daughters, Dawn Clark and her husband Richard, and Beth-Anne Paul and her husband Steven LaVergne; grandchildren: Erika-Lauren Mastroddi, Savannah Martin, Louis Mastroddi III, Anna Clark, Dina Clark, and Vivian LaVergne; and great-grandson, Jackson Bachner.
