Karl "Opa" Maurer

Mr. Karl "Opa" Maurer, age 75, of Brook Lane, Walker Towship, died Thursday, December 15, 2011, at home.

Mr. Maurer had been employed by Bill's Bakery as a baker for 30 years.

Born in Germany, he was the son of the late Heinrich Maurer and the late Monika Maurer.

He is survived by

One Son,
Eric P. Maurer and his wife Karen of Tamaqua;

One Daughter,
Kimberly J. Shimko wife of Joseph of Tamaqua;

One Brother,
Claus Maurer and his wife Christa of Germany;

Three Sisters,
AnneMarie Seiler, Hedi, wife of Manfred Lorey and Resi, wife of Helmut Schultze, all of Germany;

Four Grandchildren,
Amanda; Kory, who is presently serving with the U.S. Military in Afghanistan; Monika; and Melanie;

Sister-in-law,
Greda Maurer of Germany.

Preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Young) Maurer on 10-7-2010; son, Kevin Maurer in 1987; brother, Hans Maurer.
