Karen Burrell, 65 years of age of Mahanoy Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.
A 1969 Tamaqua Area High School graduate, Karen earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in History from Penn State University. She had been employed at the former I.C.I. of Reynolds, and for the Lansford Borough.
Karen enjoyed gardening, genealogy and loved her dogs.
Born Sunday, May 27, 1951 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, she is the daughter of Catherine (Armbruster) Burrell of Tamaqua, and the late Henry Burrell. Karen was predeceased by a sister Mrs. Joan Ann Rissinger on May 14, 2016.
Surviving are brother, Kenny Burrell and his wife Kathleen of Rockville, MD; sister, Peggy Valentine of Tamaqua; many nieces, and nephews.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 6, 2016 from the funeral home at 11 o'clock A.M.
Friends may be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.
Interment will be in St. Jerome's R.C. Cemetery of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
