Julia Anne Earley

J. Anne Earley, 96, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2012.

She was born on March 28,1916 and was a daughter of the late Leonard and Winifred Price.

She attended the Lansford Public Schools. Anne, as she liked to be called, was raised in Lansford and lived there until she entered the Manor at St. Luke Village, a nursing facility in Hazleton, on May 1, 2003.

Anne was a member of the Lansford Presbyterian Church, and then the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church in Summit Hill, after the Lansford church closed. She served her Lord and Savior in various capacities in the Women’s Group and as an Elder and a Deacon. She also served for many summers at the Presbyterian Camp Brainerd as a counselor.

Anne was active in the Lansford Senior Citizens and served as its President for several years. She worked at Bright’s and Wenzel’s Bakery in Lansford and the J. L. Honig factories in Lansford and Hazleton.

Anne was the widow of J. Russell (Bussy) Earley and she is survived by their three sons, Russell, Robert and his wife Loisann, and Marty and his wife Pam.

She was preceded in death by sisters Eleanor Snellman and her husband, Edward, Thelma Evans and her husband, Bill; One brother, Bill Price and his wife Connie. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Robert W. Earley, Jr. and daughter-in-law Peggy Hirsch Earley.

Anne is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She doted on all children, whether they were her own,grandchildren, great grandchildren or the neighborhood children.

A great cook and baker. She hosted the traditional family gathering over Thanksgiving for many, many years. She also enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress, serving the family and her neighborhood well in that capacity, doing it out of the goodness of her heart. Another pastime she enjoyed was knitting and crocheting. She turned out many blankets and other items, most of which she gave away.

Anne spent her lifetime in Christian service to others - doing what she could for anyone she knew about that needed help.

Funeral Services are being conducted by the Holmes - Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc. 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa. 18252.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday October 19 at 11 o'clock A.M from the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church 44 West White Street Summit Hill, Pa. 18250, Rev. Barbara Lucia to officiate.

Friends shall be received at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.

Interment at Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua.
