Mr. Joseph T Murphy, age 74, of E. Elm St., Tamaqua, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at St Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa.
Joseph retired from Air Products & Chemicals.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Joseph was a member of St Jerome R.C.C., Tamaqua where he served as Eucharistic Minister and SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C., Tamaqua where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He was a graduate of Marian Catholic High School and took certification courses at Alvernia College.
Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus- Father Henry Baker Chapter, Catholic War Vets, East End Fire Co., a Meals on Wheels volunteer and was an avid skier and golfer.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Thomas F. Murphy and the late Genevieve (McLaughlin) Murphy.
He is survived by his

Nephew, Leslie Murphy and his wife Crystal.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends on Friday, July 1, 2011 from 6-8 PM and on Saturday, July 2, 2011 from 8:45-9:30 AM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. 305 Pine St., Tamaqua., Reverend William Linkchorst officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will be at St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery, Tamaqua.
