Mr. Joseph M. Marcin, age 82, of E. Broad St., Tamaqua died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at his home.
Joseph was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the 69th Division having fought at the Battle of the Bulge.
A 1944 graduate of St. Jerome High School, Joseph was employed for 42 years at Atlas Powder Company in the Blasting Division, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of St. Jerome R.C. Church in Tamaqua, South Ward Fire Co., and Tamaqua American Legion.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Michael A. and Bernetta (Stahler) Marcin.
He is survived by his
wife of 51 years Ann M. (Engleman) Marcin of Tamaqua
son Joseph M. Marcin and his wife, Amy of Tamaqua
daughters JoAnn Marcin of Milford, DE and Bernetta (Marcin) VanGorden and her husband, Steven of Lancaster, Pa.
brother John Marcin and his wife, Frances of Tamaqua
sisters Mary Garrison of Hershey, Pa.; Mildred Harahus of Tamaqua; Grace Faust of Tamaqua; and Dolores Erbe and her husband Lewis of Tamaqua
five grandchildren Brieana, Caitlin, Allison, Joseph and Zachary.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc. 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, Pa. where the family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. and Monday, June 29, 2009 from 8:45-9:30 A.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Jerome R.C. Church 264 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, Pa. Reverend James C. Bechtel officiating.
Interment will be at St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery, Tamaqua, Pa.
