February 23, 1926 — February 24, 2018

John F. Wiessner, beloved father, and Pop-Pop passed away peacefully on Saturday February 24, 2018 at Weatherwood in Weatherly, Pennsylvania at the age of 92.

Lesko wife of Mark of Scranton; grandchildren, Lisa Winheld and her husband Jeff of Charleston, SC., Amy Lintz wife of Dr. Scott of Palmyra, Mark Lesko Jr. and his wife Amanda of Northampton, Mara Lesko and her husband Nick Parlanti of Dickson City; great grandchildren, Olivia Winheld, Kreider, and Katie Lintz, Lucas, Gracie, Logan, and Greta Lesko, Jason Schwartztrauber.
Born in Hazleton the son of the late John F. Wiessner, Sr., and Viola (Lithgow) Wiessner.  He was also predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Mary L. Zemanick.
John left school in the eighth grade to work in the mines at the #8 Breaker in Coaldale.  He served honorably in the United States Army during WWII serving in General George Patton's Third Army in Europe. After the war, he served as an MP at Ft. Bragg, NC  where he met his wife Cecil.  John retired from the maintenance department of the Panther Valley School System.
A longtime member of the Coaldale United Methodist Church, John was a life member of the Coaldale American Legion Post #170 for over seventy years. John was a talented wood worker  indulging his family with his many creations.
A selfless family man he often remarked that he was a "Millionaire", perhaps not financially; however,  accounting for the many blessings bestowed upon him by his family he hit the tally.  When asked how he was doing the simple reply was 50/50, and his grandchildren knew that if they went awry they were in the book,  the book that has yet to be discovered.
