John F. Surma , 61 years of age of East Moser Ave Coaldale, Pennsylvania died suddenly while on vacation in the Republica of Dominicana on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
Widower of the late Jeanne L. (Horoschak) Surma who passed away on October 14, 2008.
Survived by his daughter, Kadie Surma of Coaldale; companion, Mary Karen Shoff of Tamaqua; his dogs, Haylee, Tess, and Addy; and extended family.
A 1971 Panther Valley High School graduate, John owned and operated Surma's Garage in Coaldale since 1984, he was the Superintendent of the Lansford/ Coaldale Joint Water Authority, and operated Surma Racing.
John loved the beach, and spent his summers at his home in Ocean City Maryland.
Born Friday, July 3, 1953 in Coaldale, son of the late Franklin, and Marie (Clewell) Surma. After the death of his father John was raised by his aunt Blanche Wescott.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania where the family will receive friends on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 5-8 PM.
Memorials in care of the family will be used to purchase a memorial bench on the Board Walk in Ocean City, Maryland.
