John F. Soley, age 62, of Weatherly, Pa., died Saturday, June 20, 2009, in his home on Quakake Road, Weatherly, Pa.
John, retired from the former Atlas Powder company as an Electrician. He owned and operated P.J. Kennels of Packer Twp. for over 20 years, boarding dogs and raising Brittany's. Upon the passing of his mother, he and his sister operated Soley's Bar in the Dutch Hill section of Tamaqua, until recently.
Catholic by faith, he was a member of the New England Fire Company, Freeland Kennel Club, Duth Hill Hunters, and Brittany Club.
A 1965 Tamaqua High School graduate, John served in the United States Airforce.
His passion was Bear hunting, and his dogs.
He was the son of the late John Soley, who died in 1963 and the late Frances (Slivka) Soley, who died in 2004.
He is also survived by his

Joan F. (Soley) Yacobenas of Tamaqua, Pa.
He was also preceded in death by his mothers companion Edward A. Potosky in 1999
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, June 23, 2009 and from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
Prayer Services Tuesday evening at 7:30 P.m. from the funeral home,
Mass of Christian Burial, will be at SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C., 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pa. at 10:00 o'clock A.M. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, Rev. William J. Linkchorst officiating.
