John J. Marcin

John J. Marcin, Sr., 82 years of age of 25 South Nescopec Street, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away at home on Thursday, April 6, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of the late Frances A. (Kruczek) Marcin, R.N. They would have celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary on November 27, 2017.

Born Wednesday, August 15, 1934 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Michael A. and Bernetta (Stahler) Marcin. Preceded in death this past November was his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Frances A. (Kruczek) Marcin. He was also predeceased by sisters, Mrs. Mildred Harahus, Mrs. Grace Faust, Mrs. Dolores A. Erbe; brother, Joseph Marcin.

He was a 1952 graduate of Saint Jerome High School in Tamaqua, PA and attended Penn State University.

He was a life-long member of the former Saint Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua, PA and a member of the South Ward Fire Company, Tamaqua, PA.

John had more than 43 years experience in the consumer finance and banking industry. He was last employed as Assistant Vice President and Loan Officer of Citizens National Bank of Slatington, PA now First Niagara Bank \ Key Bank. John was a former Retail Lending Officer of Pennsylvania National Bank, now M&T Bank of Pottsville, PA. He was also Consumer Lending Officer of Home Savings Association of Tamaqua, PA. John was a former Branch Manager of Beneficial Consumer Discount Co., Panther Valley Loan Company, Pottsville, Mahanoy City, and Schuylkill Haven, PA and Home Consumer Discount Company of Nazareth, PA and American Finance Company Harrisburg, PA and Preferred Finance Company in Tamaqua, PA.

John will always be remembered for his love, compassion, and dedication to his wife and children. John was known for his exuberant sense of humor, always entering every room with a big smile and a joke to tell. He was the original “Sharp Dressed Man” taking pride in coordinating and wearing his collection of suits and ties. In addition to spending time with his family, John enjoyed boating, fishing, and reminiscing about driving his ‘57 Chevy convertable. John was also a good ice skater in his younger years.

He is survived by 3 sons Dr. Robert F. Marcin O.D. Tamaqua, PA, Scott Marcin, Tamaqua, PA, and John J. Marcin, Jr. and his wife Jeanine and four children: Genna, Julia, Johnny and Joey of Marlborough, CT; 2 daughters Dr. Jacqueline A. Marcin DMD, York, PA and Mrs. Judith A. Grainger, R.N. and husband Paul and 2 daughters: Lauren and Sarah of Atlanta, Georgia. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Mary Garrison of Hershey, PA, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ann Marcin and one brother-in-law, Lewis Erbe; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 18, 2017, 11 o'clock AM at St John XXIII R.C.C. located at 264 W Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday April 17, 2017 from 6 to 8:00 P.M., and on the morning of services from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.

Interment will be in Sky View Memorial, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
