Mr. John J. "Cedric" Linder, age 71, of Clay Street Tamaqua, Pa., died Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Schuylkill Medical Center South in Pottsville.
A Tamaqua High School graduate, John had worked as the Steward of the American Hose Fire Co. of Tamaqua, and was a member of St. John U.C.C. of Tamaqua.
John, was a member of the American Hose Fire Co., and ran with their ambulance association before the community ambulance was formed.
In 1976 John was awarded legislative and community acknowledgment for his heroism in saving two lives from a burning vehicular accident in Tamaqua.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Walter who died in 2004 and Laverne (Hollenbach) Linder, who died in 1991.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Deborah (Ketchledge) Linder;
Two Daughters,
Danielle R. (Linder) Eberts of Pottsville,
Christina D. Linder of Tamaqua;
Two grandchildren, Jocelyn, and Jaden Eberts of Pottsville;
Preceded in death by his son-in-law Jason R. Eberts on Nov. 3, 2006
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
Memorial service will be at St. John U.C.C. Pine & Biddle Streets, Tamaqua, Pa. 18252 at 11 o'clock A.M. Saturday, January 22, 2011, Rev. Kevin Duffy-Guy officiating.
