Mr. John W Leininger, age 84, of Church St., Beaver Meadows, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Manor Care in Bethlehem, Pa.
John was predeceased by his wife, Elvira (Betting) Leininger on 5-8-2007.
Mr. Leininger had been employed by the PA Turnpike as a heavy equipment operator and he also was a carpenter. He was a 1945 graduate of Hazleton High School.
John was a Veteran of WWII.
He was Lutheran by faith.
Born in Beaver Meadows, he was the son of the late Manton Leininger and the late Anna (Schwalm) Leininger.
He is survived by his
Two Sisters,
Ruth A. Gettig of Beaver Meadows and Joan A. Leininger of Weatherly;
One Brother,
Gerald Leininger of Weatherly;
Many Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by his son, Ronald Leininger in 1988; brothers, Wilson and N. Eugene; sisters, Doris Hill and Anna Craigle.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First St., Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries, F.D. Supervisor where the family will receive friends on Friday, December 23, 2011 from 10-11 AM.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11 o'clock AM at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, Pastor Dawn Richie officiating.
Interment at St. Matthew's Cemetery, Weatherly.
Memorials in his honor may be sent to a charity of one's choice.
