John King, Sr., father, brother, uncle, 94 years of age, of First Street Coaldale, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.
Born Tuesday, October 18, 1927 in Coaldale the son of the late Wash, and Mary (Zenzel) King Sr.. John was also predeceased by; his beloved wife of 68 yrs., Dorothy (Zelinsky) King on November 4 2021; sister, Helen Vavra; brother, Nicholas King.
Surviving are son, and caregiver, John King, Jr. of Allentown; brothers, Wash King and his wife Helen of Coaldale, Russell King and his wife Geraldine "Geri" of Coaldale; sister-in-law, Nancy King of Coaldale. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.
A 1945 Coaldale High School graduate, John served honorably in the United States Army during WWII, Returning home, John worked at the mines and for Home Life Insurance Company before taking a position with the former Coaldale State Hospital from which he retired as a revenue agent.
A lifelong member of St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church of Coaldale, John also was a member of the Coaldale Russian Club, and the Coaldale American Legion Post 170 for over 70 years. A talented musician, John played the trumpet in the King Brothers Orchestra Polka Band.
John was an ardent sports fan following the Philadelphia sports teams, and Oakland Athletics. John enjoyed listening to and watching polkas on the radio, and TV. On John and Dorothy's travels they would often visit local American Legion posts along their way. John's greatest pleasure was time spent with Dorothy, John, Jr., and family.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday April 14, 2022 at 11 o'clock A.M. from St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church 217 First Street Coaldale, Pennsylvania 18218. Friends may call in church on the morning of from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Father James Weremedic to officiate.
Interment with Military Honors to be bestowed will be held at Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
