John King, Jr., 67, of First Street, Coaldale, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale, Pennsylvania after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer.
Born Thursday, November 17, 1955 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania the son of the late John, Sr., and Dorothy (Zelinsky) King.
John is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, Godchildren, and many friends.
A graduate of Panther Valley High School Class of 1973, he was a starting guard for the football team and catcher for the baseball team. John matriculated to East Stroudsburg University earning a degree in computer science. John was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon-Iota Tau Chapter and served a term as president of the fraternity. John continued to stay in touch with his fraternity friends and brothers. As a member of the East Stroudsburg Alumni Association, he remained a strong supporter of East Stroudsburg athletics. John recently retired from the Lehigh Valley Hospital System as a Senior Systems Analyst and Programmer having worked there for many years. John was a member of St. Joseph's R.C.C. of the Panther Valley, and also belonged to the Coaldale American Russian Citizens Club, the Coaldale Rod & Gun Club, and was a member of the Sons of the Coaldale American Legion, Post 170. He was an avid baseball fan and owned Philadelphia Eagles season tickets for many years. John loved to attend Eagles games with his aunt and uncle, cousins and friends. He was a proud supporter and season ticket holder of the Iron Pigs and lifelong Oakland Athletics baseball fan. John enjoyed shooting darts and played in local softball leagues with Student's Cafe and the Russian Club. He travelled to many Penn State Football Games as a member of the Penn State Club of Carbon County, and also played guard for Pollock's Championship Flag Football Team. In his leisure time, John enjoyed ME TV and spending time with his family.
John was both patient and kind as well as a terrific son, who over the past few years was the caregiver for both his mother and father.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday June 5, 2023 at 2 o'clock P.M. from St. Joseph's R.C.C. Located at 462 West Ludlow Street Summit Hill, Pennsylvania 18250. Friends may call in church from 1:00 P.M. until the time of Mass.
Interment will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
