John W "Jack" Brode, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather age 85, of Lower Rd., Tamaqua, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale.
Preceded in death by his wife Eleanor L. (Hain) Brode on 1-16-1995, he is survived by; Daughters, Sharon Zehner of Tamaqua, Louise Teter of Weatherly; sons, Michael T Brode and his wife Lori of Summit Hill; Gary J Brode of McAdoo; Nine Grandchildren; Fifteen Great-Grandchildren.
A 1949 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Jack served his country honorably enlisting in the US Navy during the Korean War. A life long member of The Primitive United Methodist Church of Tamaqua, Jack served on the Board of Trustee's of the church, and had been a Past President. An Avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and fishing, Jack, was a lifetime member of the West Penn Gun Club. and also belonged to the United Steel Workers, and N.R.A.
Jack retired from Parish Steel a division of Dana Corporation of Hamburg after 351/2 years.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late John F. Brode and the late Gladys (Edmonds) Brode. He was also predeceased by; step-mother Gladys (Breiner) Brode; son, John in 1974; grandson, Michael T. Brode, Jr. on 4/5/2012; brother, Eugene Brode; sisters, Mrs. Shirley June Dwojack and Mrs. Nancy Barron.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, PA where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, May 22, 2017.
Funeral service will be at E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., at 11 o'clock AM, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, Rev. Rodney Hall to officiate.
Interment with Military Honors will be at Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, PA.
