John J. Fedor, husband, father, Pop-Pop, of Mill Drive, Tamaqua passed away on Tuesday February 20, 2018 at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale at the age of 90.
Survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Ann C. (Garshell) Fedor; sons, John Jay Fedor and his wife Audrey of Nazareth, James P. Fedor and his wife Susanne of Vestal, NY, Raymond T. Fedor and his wife Catherine of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Aaron, Adrienne, Ryan, Jason, Lauren, and Bradley.
John was born in Beaver Meadows on February 10, 1928 the son of the late John and Anna (Galada) Fedor. He attended a one room grade school house in Coxeville thru 8th grade. While attending Hazle Township High School, class of 1945, he learned to play the accordion, was the center on the football team, but was able to join the band at half time to play the drums.
John served honorably in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He began his training at the Coast Guard Institute in New London, CT earning a degree in Electronics. He was then stationed in Hawaii as a radar operator.
After completing his military service, John attended Hazleton G.I. School for TV repair. He then began work for the former Ridge Center in Lansford, PA as a TV repairman from 1950 to 1966. John was involved in one of the first installations of Cable TV in America from Summit Hill to Lansford. In 1966, John went to work for the former Atlas Powder Co. of Reynolds as a Development Engineer, retiring in 1991. During his tenure at Atlas, he built a large computer automated index machine which produced the first non-electric blasting cap.
His early education and his creativity gave him the ability to fix anything. He was a handyman in the truest sense, building and designing his own home in West Penn Twp.
A member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua, John also belonged to the West Penn Lions Club, Tamaqua & McAdoo Senior Citizens. He and Ann enjoyed traveling, camping, and when his boys were young, he coached their Lansford Little League team, the "Ace's".

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 23, 2018 at 11 o'clock AM from SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. 301 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
Friends may call on Friday morning from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
Interment with Military honors will take place at Sky-View Memorial Park Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
