Mr. John E. "Jay" Faust, Jr., age 87, of Weatherly, Pa., died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, Pa.
A 1941 Weatherly High School graduate, Jay served during WWII, stationed in the China, Burma, India Theater, with the 925th Night Fighter Squadron, of the 312 Fighter Wing of the 14th Air Force. As and Air Force reservist, he was recalled to serve during the Korean War. Accompanied by his family, they moved to Texas, where Jay served as a instructor for Fly Training Command at the James Connelly Airforce Base. Jay's commitment to the reserve lasted 25 years, having earned the rank of Major.
He worked for 49 years at the Hazleton Standard Speaker as Production Coordinator, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Hazleton Typographical Union #401, and served as Chairman of the Weatherly Municipal Authority.
A member of Salem U.C.C. , he had held the titles of Consistory President, Elder, and Church School Superintendent.
A member of Weatherly American Legion Post #360, Life member of Officers Reserve Assoc., and AARP.
Born in Weatherly, he was the son of the late J. Edward and Cora (Wisler) Faust.
He is survived by his

Joan C. (Faust) Hess wife of retired Trooper Lee Hess of Tamaqua,
Jill D. (Faust) Seigendall wife of Carl of Weatherly;
One Sister,
Mrs. Jeanne (Faust) Hittinger wife of Eugene of Weatherly;
Four grandchildren, Brian, Amy, Jane, and Bette;
Ten great-grandchildren;
Preceded in death by his wife Jean D. (Wilcrout) Faust on Oct. 1, 2007 .
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries F.D., Sup. where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Monday, July 12, 2010.
Funeral service will be at Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Monday, July 12, 2010, Rev. Glen R. Hueholt officiating.
Interment with Military Honors, will be at Union Cemetery.
