John L. "Butch" Collins, age 66, of Tamaqua, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Tamaqua, while in the care of his sister Janet and family.
Survived by his wife Sandra Elaine (Palmer) Collins of Tamaqua.
Butch, served in the United States Navy, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was an active member of the Coaldale V.F.W., having been a former Commander.
Butch last worked for Bethlehem mines of Coaldale.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Marvin and Blodwin (Garber) Collins.
He is also survived by;

Brad L. Collins and his wife Nicole of Hazleton;
Three Sisters,
Mrs. Marlene Shaver wife of Donald of Phoenix, Ariz.,
Mrs. Janet L. Bankes of Tamaqua, Mrs. Patricia A. Benitez wife of Obed of McAdoo;
Four grandchildren, Ashley, Cassandra, Shawna, and William;
Step- daughter, Pamela J. Kane of Tamaqua;
Preceded in death by a brother, James E. Zollers on Sept. 1, 1974.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, June 15, 2012.
Funeral service will be at E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc. at 6:00 PM Friday, June 15, 2012, Rev. Rodney Hall to officiate.
Private Interment will be at Sky View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, with Military Honors.
