John J. Collings, 95 years of age formerly of Media, Pa, Annapolis MD, and recent guest of Heritage Hill Senior Living of Weatherly, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Lehigh Valley- Hazleton Campus in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
Born Sunday, November 13, 1927 in Sandusky Ohio the son of the late John, and Dora (Richardson) Collings. John was also predeceased by; his beloved wife Geraldine (Trautlein) Collings in 1994; sister, Alice Scherer; brother, Edward Collings.
A graduate of Sandusky High School, John served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS George K. Mackenzie DD-836 as a fireman first class. Returning home he received his business degree from Ohio State Columbus Ohio, and later earned his master's and doctorate. John retired from Scott Paper of Philadelphia serving as an executive for over 30 years, and then was an adjunct professor, and active with Dale Carnegie School. A former president of Big Brothers of Philadelphia, John mentored his brother Donald. He was very interested in the Lakota Native American Indian tribe and visited their civilization participating in tribal celebrations. An author, John wrote "Energetic Coaching" and operated his own Personal Coaching business in Annapolis Maryland for a number of years. John also served as an asst. Boy Scout leader in his son’s troop.
