John A. "Blinky" Plasko, father, and grandfather age 86, of Market Street Tamaqua, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale.
Widower of Kathleen E. (Walters) Plasko who died in 1986.
A Tamaqua High School graduate, John served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had worked for the former Diversified Metals of Hometown, and then as a carpet installer.
A member of
St. John XXIII Parish of Tamaqua, South Ward Fire Company, Tamaqua American Legion, Keystone Hunt & Fish Club, and Tamaqua Pool League.
As a young man John played Semi-pro baseball. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
Born in Tuscarora, the son of the late John, and Kathryn (Kotch) Plasko.
Survived by;
Daughter,
Deborah (Plasko) James, of Tamaqua with whom he resided;
Sisters:
Mary (Plasko) Merchadante , Boothwyn, PA,
Joan (Plasko) Kast , Tamaqua;
Four Grand Children, Keith James and his wife Shelby, Holly Bones and her husband Joseph, Jeremy Plasko, and Jamie Plasko;
Three Great-Grand Children, Ella Bones, Brady James, and Adalyn Bones;
many nieces and nephews also survive John.
Preceded in death by son, John B. Plasko; sisters, Mrs. Helen Seader, Mrs. Kathryn Yusella, and Miss Anna Plasko; brother, Joseph Plasko.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
Funeral service will be at E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 22, 2014, Rev. John Frink to officiate.
Friends shall be received from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.
Interment with Military Honors, conducted at St. Bertha's R.C.Cemetery, Walker Twp., PA.
