Mr. John J Bland, age 88, of Douglassville, Pa., died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at St John Neumann Nursing Home in Philadelphia, Pa.
John was employed by Conrail as a locomotive engineer.
He was a WWII Army Veteran having served with the 3rd AirDrome Squadron 5th Airforce Group.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late John Buckton Bland and the late Johanna (Collins) Bland.
He is survived by his
nephew, Robert Lovas and his wife Rose with whom John resided
brother-in-Law,David Lovas
great-nieces, Jessica Stampone and her husband Mike; Carolyn Finnegan and her husband James; and Elizabeth Lovas
great-nephew, Stephen Lovas
great-great nieces, Erin Kay & Colleen Finnegan.
Preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Lovas.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. John Neumann Nursing Home 10400 Roosevelt Blvd., Philadelphia, Pa. Calling hours from 9:00AM to time of service at the nursing home.
Interment will be at St. Jerome's Cemetery, Tamaqua, Pa.
