Joan K. Palermo

Joan K Palermo, wife, mother, grandmother, 88 years of age of Weatherly, Pennsylvania passed away  on Monday, February 1, 2021, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.

Born Saturday, August 27, 1932 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Charles, and Thelma (Setzer) Kelshaw.  She  was also predeceased by; brothers, Herbert J., and Ronald Kelshaw.

Surviving are; her husband of 65 years, Charles J. Palermo, Sr.;  sons, Charles Palermo, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Sugarloaf,  Karl  Palermo and his companion Ellen Horgan of NH.;  daughters, Mary J. Pleban and her husband Tom of Conyngham,  Carole Panzarella and her husband Carl  of Weatherly; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

A 1950 graduate of Weatherly High School, Joan matriculated to Bloomsburg State Teachers College graduating in 1954.  Joan taught Elementary English and Reading in Weatherly for over 40 years.   A member of Salem U.C.C. of Weatherly, Joan sang in the choir.  Joan was an avid reader, enjoyed watching the Yankees, trips to the casino,  and was an ardent Derek Jeter fan.
