Surrounded by those she loved, Mrs. Jean Kester, age 89, peacefully went home to her Lord
Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 20, 2011. At the time of her death, she was a resident of the
Weatherwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr., 1000 Evergreen Ave, Weatherly.
Jean was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Weatherly, where she served as a Sunday
school teacher and participated in women's fellowship and nursing home outreach.
She and her husband, the late Willard Kester, were involved for many years in operating the
American Legion, Dietrich-Luhman Post 360 of Weatherly. Jean was also a member of the
former Hazleton Chapter 248, Order of the Eastern Star.
Jean was employed for many years as an administrative assistant at the Daniel Suitch Insurance
Agency in Weatherly. Following her retirement, she continued to serve the people of Weatherly
and the surrounding area as a notary. She also served as judge of elections.
Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Johnson) Dubroski.
She is survived by both of her children,
a daughter, Kendall (Kester) Seybert and her husband James, 110 Belleview Drive, Canastota,
NY;
and a son, Todd Kester, 326 First Street, Weatherly;
three granddaughters, Amy (Seybert) Eroh and her husband, Ron, of Weatherly, Jenn Seybert of
Canastota, NY, and Corinne Kester of Weatherly;
four great grandchildren, Caleb, Lydia, and Rebekah Eroh, and Sarah (Eroh) Thompson and her
husband, Paul, of Drums;
and a great-great grandson, Owen Thompson, born in March, 2010.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly,
Pa., Philip J. Jeffries, F.D., Supervisor.
Friends may call Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 12:30 P.M. until the time of Services at
2:00 P.M. at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street Weatherly, Pa. 18255. Rev.
Fredericka Beauchard and Rev. Donald Stump will officiate.
Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery, Drums.
