Mr. James J Rowan, age 84, of Tamaqua, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at home.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lydia M. (Williams) Rowan.
James had been employed by Bethlehem Steel for 34 years as a yard worker.
He was an United States Navy Veteran.
He was Catholic by faith.
James was a member of the Tamaqua American Legion and the Italian Club. He was a pool shooter in the Tamaqua Pool League and an avid Notre Dame and Penn State fan.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late James L. Rowan and the late Marion (Fox) Rowan.
He is also survived by his

Val (Rowan) Faust wife of Dennis of Andreas;
One Sister,
Marian Kotch-Stephens of Tamaqua;
One Brother,
Robert Rowan and his wife Jean of Tamaqua;
Eight grandchildren
Nine great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his son, Timothy J. Rowan on 9-3-2008.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.
Funeral Service will be on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11 o'clock AM at the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Reverend William Linkchorst to officiate.
Interment with military honors will be at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Tamaqua, Pa.
