Irene L.. McGregor, R.N., 82 years of age of Lafayette Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania surrounded by her family.
Widow of Robert L. McGregor who passed away in 1976.
An active member of Trinity U.C.C. of Tamaqua, Irene had served as a lector, deacon, and sang in the choir for 21 years.
Born Friday, August 19, 1932. in Manchester England the daughter of the late William. and Ethel (Robson) Storey.
Irene was a graduate of Park Hospital Davyhulme in Manchester England earning her registered nurse qualifications. She specialized in pediatrics, and then became trained in hospice care for which she worked until retiring.
Irene, came to the United States in May of 1953, marrying her late husband Bob on June 1, 1953. Together they raised their children.
Sons, Stephen McGregor and his wife Shelly of Coaldale, Terrence McGregor of North Whales, Michael McGregor of Ringtown, and Robert "Robbie" McGregor who resided with his mother; daughter, Susan Moore of Tamaqua; Eleven grandchildren, and Ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her children, Irene is survived by; brothers, Brian Storey, John Storey, and Jerry Storey; sisters, Adrienne Rowlands, and Jannette Storey, and Catherine Kinney all residing in England; good friends, Dick & Carmen Vandewater, and Susan Kachelries.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.
A Celebration of Irene's Life will be held Friday July 3, 2015 at 11 o'clock A.M. from Trinity U.C.C. 22 Lafayette Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252, Rev. Darryl Kensinger to officiate.
