Helen M. Motika, RCNA, age 83, formerly of Tuscarora, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at the home of her niece and caregiver, Marlene Fulton and her husband Joseph in Summit Hill.
A Pottsville High School graduate, Helen matriculated to Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Allentown, earning her RN. She then began a career in nursing which eclipsed 45 plus years, working at the former Good Samaritan Medical Ctr. of Pottsville. Helen continued her education, becoming a Nurse Anesthetist.
Catholic by faith, Helen was a member of the former St. Bertha's R.C.C. of Tuscarora, and recently worshiped at SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. of Tamaqua.
Born in Tuscarora, she was the daughter of the late John Motika and the late Mary (Fabian) Motika-Vacula.
She is also survived by her
Two Sisters,
Kathryn (Vacula) Patterson wife of Keith of Ft. Worth, Texas,
Elizabeth (Motika) Hammond of Dover, Del.;
Two Brothers,
Joseph Motika of Tamaqua,
Bernard Motika and his wife Betteann of New Ringgold;
Nieces, and nephews also survive her;
Preceded in death by, sisters, Bernadette, Helen, Rose, and Mary Motika, Mrs. Ann Bisaha; brothers, Infant John, Andrew, John Motika, and William Vacula.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. at 11 o'clock AM Tuesday, April 2, 2013, Rev. Wiliam Linkchorst to officiate.
Interment will be at St. Bertha's R.C.C. Cemtery of Tuscarora.
