Mrs. Helen M (Gilbert) Mahala, age 84, of Pittston, Pa., formerly of West Penn Township, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Wesley Village in Pittston.
Helen was a Tamaqua High School graduate and was employed by Schuylkill County Child Development as a teacher's aide.
She was a member of St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville, Pa.
Born in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late Albert Gilbert and the late Dorothy (Abrahams) Gilbert.
She is survived by her
Daughter, Laura Schmidt and her husband Robert of Winter Garden, Florida;
Granddaughter, Nikki Hartman, and her husband Jay;
Two great-grandchildren, Garrett, and Brady Hartman.
Preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Mahala; brother, Ronald Gilbert.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. Peter's Union Church 184 St. Peter's Rd., Tamaqua, Pa. Reverend Rodney Wells officiating.
Interment at Odd fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua, Pa.
