Helen “Tooter” (Lohenitz) Linkevich, January 4, 1947-November 12, 2021, died at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Lillian Ida (Rohlfing) Lohenitz and Peter Lohenitz and preceded in death by her brother, John “Jack” Lohenitz.
Helen was a member of the Tamaqua Class of 1964 and attended Bloomsburg University, graduating in 1968. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Linkevich, and her three daughters: Pamela Ohl and her husband Mark; Mary Linkevich and her companion Joseph Coccio, of Tamaqua; and Ann McCann and her husband Brendan of Granada Hills, California. Helen was a proud Nana of her beloved granddaughter Jaclyn Ohl and grandson Ronan McCann, and had a much-loved niece, Sherri Riddle and nephew John Lohenitz and their families, both of Alabama.
Helen earned a teaching degree and taught business at Whitehall High School before relinquishing her career to raise her three wonderful daughters. She loved swimming, faithfully visiting the YMCA facility in Hazleton, as well as vacationing in Cape May with her “Cape May Girls” and family, and spending as much time as possible at “The Bungalow,” enjoying her signature “spot” at the community pool every summer. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her and her infectious smile and laugh.
