Helen Kupchinsky

October 26, 1922 — September 24, 2013

Helen (Hrizo) Kupchinsky 90 years of age, passed to eternal life at Rest Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr on Tuesday September 24, 2013 after a ten month illness as a result of a stroke and complications which occurred as a patient at Hershey Medical Ctr.

Widow of Francis J. “Frank” Kupchinsky, who died on October 16, 1988.

Helen was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a living example of God’s love. Helen’s Christian Faith sustained her during her suffering, allowing her to remain pleasant and joy-filled.

As a young adult she worked as a seamstress in several garment factories and then worked in retail stories in Schuylkill County. An avid reader of the Bible, Helen prayed for others, and sang in the church choir. Dancing and listening to Polka music was a favorite past time.

Helen was a member of the St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church of Brockton, and St. Ann’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Harrisburg. Helen graduated from Blythe Twp. Schools.

Helen was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Petrush) Hrizo.

She is survived by her;

Son, David Kupchinsky and his wife Holly of Summit Hill;

Daughters,
Marian (Kupchinsky) Bassler wife of Harry of Harrisburg,
Gail Kupchinsky of Mary-D,
Lisa (Kupchinsky) Stramitis wife of Ron of Harrisburg;

Seven grandchildren, David Kupchinsky, Jr., Amanda (Kupchinsky) DeLucia, Zachary Kupchinsky, and Isaiah Kupchinsky, Stephen Bassler, Justin Stramitis, and Jayne Stramitis;

Great grand daughter, Jane Kupchinsky.

Preceded in death by a sister, Martha Hrizo in 1921; grandson, Luke Bassler in 2008.

E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., entrusted with her care.

A Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 27, 2013 at 1 o’clock P.M. from St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church Green & Union Streets, Brockton, Pa., Rev. James Carroll, O.F.M. to officiate.

No calling hours.

Interment in the Parish Cemetery, Tuscarora.
