Harry W. Strack Ii

September 10, 1927 — April 18, 2014

Harry W. Strack II, 86, of New Ringgold went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18 at Moravian Village, Bethlehem.

Born on September 10, 1927 in Myerstown, Harry was the son of the late Harry W. Strack and Alice Gerhart Strack Peiffer.

After graduating from Tamaqua High School in 1945, Harry joined the United States Navy, serving from 1945-1948. He married the late Jean L. Berk on December 30, 1950. They celebrated 60 years of marriage at the time of her death on June 3, 2011.

Harry led an active life, training as an automotive mechanic, working for 15 years as a welder at Bethlehem Steel, and operating his own welding business in New Ringgold.

A tragic fall in 1963 changed his life forever, as paralysis confined him to a wheelchair. Harry utilized his mechanical knowledge to equip cars, tractors, and lawn mowers with hand controls, enabling him to continue to embrace life! Harry was a gifted wood worker, using his lathe to make countless goblets, bells, snowmen, and candle holders. He and Jean raised thousands of Christmas trees!

Harry was a member of Christ Church McKeansburg, serving as deacon, church treasurer and consistory treasurer. He was a 50 year member of the Orwigsburg Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite of the Lehigh Valley.

Harry is survived by his sons: Richard H. Strack and his wife Peggy of Stroudsburg, and Harry W. Strack III and his wife Alison of Camp Hill and grandsons Geoffrey, Jonathan, and Eric Strack.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Peter Peiffer, wife, brothers Warren and Herman Strack and Charles Peiffer, and sisters Arlene Strack Waltermeyer and Alberta Strack Kimmel.

A memorial service, with Rev. Sunny Stock officiating, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Christ Church McKeansburg , located at 6 South Race Street, New Ringgold, Pa. 17960.
