Grace L. Hoffman

Grace L (Long) Hoffman, age 86, of Golf Rd., Tamaqua, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015, surrounded by her family at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Paul C. Hoffman.
Grace was the valedictorian of the Tamaqua High School class of 1946. She went on to attend Allentown Business School and graduated first in her class. Upon graduation, Grace began her forty plus year career in banking starting at Tamaqua National Bank. She went on to be the first manager of the South Tamaqua branch of Meridian/Corestates Bank. She retired as an Assistant Vice President. Throughout her career she was known for offering guidance, support and assistance to anyone in need.
Devout to her faith, she was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Mahoning for most of her adult life. She served as Secretary, Church Council member and as a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Pocahontas Lodge of Clamtown, and a Cub Scout Leader. She also served on various committees related to the community. Grace selflessly donated many hours of time and resources to local and national charities.
She enjoyed reading, music and playing the piano and organ. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and beloved grandchildren.
Born in Clamtown, West Penn Township., she was the daughter of the late Elias H. Long and the late Sallie (Shoemaker) Long.
She is survived by her daughter, Hope A Harakel wife of Edward B. of Tuscarora, and her son, Rene A Hoffman and his wife Stephanie of Downingtown, PA;
In addition she is survived by three grandchildren; Eddie Harakel and his wife Marika, Kelly Hoffman, and Shannon Lee and her husband Travis.
She also has three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter E. Long; sister, Mildred Dixon; grandson, Justin M. Harakel on 10/8/2011.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
Funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church of Mahoning 826 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton, PA at 11 o'clock AM, Thursday, November 5, 2015, Pastor Allison deForest to officiate.
Visitation at the church on Thursday November 5, 2015 will begin at 9:30 AM until time of service.
Interment will be at St John's Lutheran Cemetery, Mahoning Township.
Memorials in her name to the St. John's Lutheran Church of Mahoning.
