Grace I. Hensel

Grace I. (Hittinger) Hensel, 96 years of age, of South Lehigh Gorge Drive Weatherly, passed away peacefully as a guest on Monday July 24, 2017 at Weatherwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Weatherly.
The widow of Edward A. Hensel, Sr. who passed away on Sept. 21, 2008, Grace is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Vazquez wife of George of Mechanicsburg, Mrs. Sharon Hinkle wife of John of Slatington; sons, Jeffrey T. Hensel and his wife Susan of Dayton, MD, and Dr., Jerry R. Hensel and his wife Maria of Selinsgrove; daughter-in-law, Janet Holman of Weatherly; fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive her.
Grace was a graduate of Weatherly High School and belonged to the Weatherly Alumni Association. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Weatherly, having served as a church Elder, as past treasurer of the Presbyterian Women, and often substituting as organist. She extended her love of music by serving as volunteer accompanist at Heritage Hills and Weatherwood. Grace was a judge of elections in Lehigh Township for many years, and was a member of the Weatherly Senior Citizens. Grace enjoyed doing crafts, and baking.
Grace had worked as a cafeteria aide for the Weatherly School district, and then as a dietary aide, and as Administrative Assistant to the Administrator of Weatherwood, Carbon County's home for the aged.
Born in Rockport, Lehigh Township, the daughter of the late Grant, and Dora (Adler) Hittinger, she was also predeceased by; son, Mr. Edward A. Hensel, Jr., and granddaughter Ann Grace Hensel; sisters, Mrs. Emma Seibel, Mrs. Dorothy Simmons, Mrs. Irene Bickleman, Mrs. Iva Kline, Miss Ruth Hittinger; brothers, Robert, Henry, Pierce, Gerald, and infant brother Russell Hittinger.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services of 211 First Street Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255. (570) 427-4231.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday July 27, 2017 at 11 o'clock A.M., from the First Presbyterian Church of Weatherly, 105 East Main Street, Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255, Rev. Glen Hueholt to officiate. Friends shall be received in church from 9:30 A.M. until time of worship.
Interment Union Cemetery, Weatherly, Pennsylvania.
