Gordon W. Tonkin, husband, father, and grandfather age 60, of High Street, Tamaqua, died Friday, November 30, 2012, at St. Luke's Bethlehem, surrounded by his family.
Survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Rose (Banditelli) Tonkin.
Gordy was a 1970 Tamaqua High School graduate, and standout athlete. He attended L.C.C.C.
Enlisting in the United States Navy, Gordy served during the Vietnam War. Returning home he worked for the former Atlas Powder Co., and has worked at Air Products and Chemicals of Hometown for 34 years.
A memebr of the East End Fire Co., Tamaqua American Legion Post #173, and The Association of Machinist & Aerospace #917 Local. Gordy helped coach his children, while they participated in Tamaqua Knee-Hi football, Biddie and Little League Baseball.
Born in Coaldale, he is the son of Jean (Hochstatter) Tonkin of Tamaqua, and the late Gordon E. Tonkin who died on July 22, 2004.
He is also survived by his

Damian R. Fritz and his wife Kristen of Eagle Rock,
Gordon R. Tonkin of Tamaqua;
One Sister,
Marilyn J. Stickler wife of William of Midlothian, Va.
Four grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Ava, and Addison;
Nephew, Jason Stickler and his wife Shannon; nieces, Danielle, and Tara Seymour.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where
friends will be received from 5 to 8 o'clock P.M. on Tuesday December 4, 2012.
Private Funeral Service with Military Honors, interment in St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery of Tamaqua.
