Gerald M. "Tessy" Sherry

Gerald M. "Tessy" Sherry, 70 yrs. of age , of East Union Street, Tamaqua, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale.

A member of St. John's U.C.C. of Tamaqua, Gerald was always about town looking for conversation with all who called him a friend. In late spring and thru the summer, Gerald took to his bench at the Tamaqua Little League fields to support the area youth for many a year.

Gerald and his father operated Sherry and Son Coal Company until he retired in 1984. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Claude and Margaret (Brownmiller) Sherry.

Gerald was cared for by his brother-in-law Joseph Kamant with whom he resided.

He is survived by nieces,



Christine Karnish and her husband Stan of Summit Hill,

Janelle DeGilio and her husband Nick of Nesquehoning,

Claudene Oswald and her husband Mike of Andreas;

Nephew,

Mark Sinn and his wife Judy of Tamaqua;

Many great nieces and nephews also survive Gerald.

Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.

Funeral services will be on Wed. April 2, 2014 at 11 o'clock A.M. from the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.

Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery of Tamaqua.
