Gerald Leininger, age 88, of Spring Mt. Road, Weatherly, Pa., died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Ctr. in Wilkes Barre.
Husband of the late Nancy L. (Craigle) Leininger, who died in Jan. of 2002.
Born in Beaver Meadows, he was the son of the late Manton and Anna (Schwalm) Leininger.
A 1941 Hazleton High School graduate, Gerald served in the United States Army during WWII, earning the European Theater Service Medal, having fought in Normandy in Northern France, Rhineland & Central Europe. He was also awarded the WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Gerald worked for Frame Trucking of Beaver Meadows.
He is survived by his

Two Sisters,
Joan A. Leininger of Weatherly, Ruth A. (Leininger) Gettig of Beaver Meadows;
Nieces and nephews
Preceded in death by brothers, John, Wilson, and N. Eugene Leininger; sisters, Mrs. Doris Hill, and Mrs. Anna Craigle.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street Weatherly, Philip J. Jeffries F.D., Supv.
Friends shall be received Wed. evening, Feb. 22, 2012, at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM.

Interment with Military Honors will be at St. Matthew's Cemetery of Weatherly.
