Gerald E. "Jerry" Kunkel, husband, father, pop-pop, of North Street, Weatherly, Pennsylvania passed away Friday, January 27, 2017, at Weatherwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr. in Weatherly, Pennsylvania while in Hospice care, having fought a courageous battle against cancer.
Survived by his devoted wife of thirty-three years, Kathy (Pombo) Kunkel; daughter, Mrs. Jen O'Donnell wife of Brian of Weatherly; sister, Debra Kunkel and her companion Donny Weston of Weatherly, his only grandchild Hailey whom he adored; niece, Abby Weston; brother-in-law, Bobby Bann,Jr. of Tresckow, and many nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts also survive Jerry.
A 1975 graduate of Weatherly High School, Jerry retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission after thirty-two years of services. He was a Biddy Basket Ball and T-Ball coach in Weatherly, and member of the Citizens Fire Company, Paradise Hunt & Fish Club, and Brushy Hollow Hunting Club's of Weatherly.
Jerry was always busy either tinkering around the house or in his garage.
Born in Hazleton on October 20, 1957, the son of the late Eugene E. "Gene", and Margaret "Marge" (Zelenak) Kunkel. He was also predeceased by an infant brother; sister, Mrs. Donna Bann.

A Funeral service will be at 11 o'clock on Wednesday February 1, 2017 from the funeral home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the funeral home.
Interment at Union Cemetery of Weatherly, Pennsylvania.
