Gerald E. Hittinger, age 90, of South Lehigh Gorge Drive, Lehigh Twp., Weatherly, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Weatherwood Nursing & Rehabilitaion Ctr in Weatherly.

Survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan W. (Swank) Hittinger.

A 1941 Weatherly High School graduate, Gerald served in the Army during WWII.

Gerald retired from the Weatherly Foundry, and was a member of Salem U.C.C.. He enjoyed wood working.

Born in Rockport, he was the son of the late Henry and Dora (Adler) Hittinger.

He is also survived by his;

Two Daughters,
Lucille M. (Hittinger) Hill and her husband Terry R.,
Alice F. (Hittinger) Barnasevitch both of Weatherly;

Son,
David L. Hittinger and his wife Francine of Ladson, N.C.;

One Sister,
Grace Hensel of Weatherly;

Six grandchildren.

Preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Emma Seibel, Mrs. Dorothy Simmons, Mrs. Irene Bickleman, Mrs. Iva Kline, and Miss Ruth Hittinger; brothers, Pierce, Henry, and Robert Hittinger as well as an infant brother.

Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 211 First Street Weatherly, Pa.

Graveside Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11 0'clock AM at Union Cemetery, W Main St., Weatherly, Pa., Pastor Nancy Hardy to officiate.

Memorials in his honor may be sent to the American Cancer Society Carbon-Tamaqua Unit 101 W Frack St., Frackville, PA 17931 or to the American Legion Post Three 360 Veterans Lane, Weatherly, PA 18255.
