Mr. George W Moon, age 66, of Quakake Rd., village of Hudsondale, died Monday, September 12, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.
George was employed in propane sales, last working for Heller Gas of Berwick and retired in 1989 from the Standard Speaker Newspaper after 25 years of service in the Press Room.
He was a 1963 Weatherly High School graduate.
Involved with the Lions for 35 years, he was a Charter Member of the Weatherly Lions and Quakake Valley Lions Club. George was also a lifetime member of the Barren Acres Hunting Club of Weatherly, and a member of the Citizens Fire Co. #1 of Weatherly, McAdoo Fire Co., and social member of the White Haven V.F.W. He was a former member of the Flying Aces Motyorcycle Club.
Born in West Hazleton, he was the son of the late John E. Moon and the late Leona J. (Vetter) Moon.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Diane E (Fetterman) Moon;
One Daughter,
Nicole L (Moon) Sacco wife of William of Weatherly
Two Sons,
David W Moon and his wife Cathy and Paul R. Moon all of Weatherly
Two Brothers,
Edward C Moon and his wife Patricia of Weatherly and Robert J Moon and his wife Carol of Newport, DE
Five grandchildren,
Rachel, Meghan and Zachary Moon and Gabriella and Anthony Sacco.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries, F.D. Supervisor where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 6-8 PM and on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 10-11 AM.
Funeral Service will be on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, Reverend Donald Stump officiating.
Interment at Union Cemetery of Weatherly.
