Mr. George E. Hankey, age 94, of Pine Street New Philadelphia, formerly of Tamaqua, Pa., died Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Schuylkill Manor in Pottsville, Pa.
A member of St. John U.C. C., and the South Ward Fire Company of Tamaqua, George had worked for Bethlehem Mines.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late William and Mary Hankey.
He is survived by his

Ann Marie (Hankey) Tuckey of Delano;
Four Sisters,
Mae (Hankey) Kreiner of Coaldale,
Isabelle (Hankey) Brode of Tamaqua,
Shirley (Hankey) Richelderfer of Tamaqua,
Mary (Hankey) Rex of New Ringgold;
One grandchild, Kathy Ann Tuckey;
Care givers, Sylvia, and Rita Boran of New Philadelphia;
Preceded in death by his wife, Elma (Boran) Hankey; sisters, Mrs. Eva Mae Lukacik, Mrs. Grace Robertshaw.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, February 17, 2011.
Funeral service will be at E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 17, 2011, Rev. Kevin Duffy-guy officiating.
Interment will be at Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pa.
