George J. "Husser" Duffy, 83 years of age of West Penn Twp., Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at home while in the care of his grandsons Benjamin H. and Ethan J. Turrano and their parents, Melanie A. and Benjamin Turrano.
Born Wednesday, February 26, 1941 in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Walter Duffy and Mary (Longazel) Duffy. Husser was also predeceased by beloved wife, Joan E. (Marina) Duffy; son, George Duffy; granddaughter, Melissa McGuire; brothers, Walter Duffy, Joseph “Yokie,”Duffy, and Eugene “Grogs” Duffy.
Surviving are daughters, Mary Kay Craigie, Melanie A. Turrano, wife of Benjamin; son, David A. Kutz; sister, Mary Duffy Andrew; grandchildren, Benjamin H., and Ethan J. Turrano, Jennifer McGuire, and Hayden Kutz. Husser also had six nieces and nephews and played a very important role in their lives as they grew.
A 1960 graduate of Jim Thorpe High School, Husser served in the United States Navy, having been involved in two separate helicopter crashes sustaining serious injuries. Returning home, Husser began a long successful career as a member of the Pipefitters Local #420. A car enthusiast, Husser belonged to a number of car clubs and enjoyed showing his ThunderBird and prized 1967 Plymouth. An ardent fan of high school athletics, Husser especially enjoyed women's college basketball, and followed the Tamaqua Raider, and Jim Thorpe Girls basketball teams. A history buff, Husser was a gun collector and enjoyed riding his BMW motorcycle.
Husser had many friends during his wonderful, long life and was loved by so many. His sense of humor, interest in politics and traveling, as well as reading the local newspapers gave him so much to talk about with others. He loved telling stories of his boyhood in Jim Thorpe, his days swimming in the Lehigh, his entrepreneurial ventures and misadventures, and the characters he met along the way with their colorful nicknames. Of his valued friends, his grandsons, Benjamin and Ethan, were his best friends whom he was with till the end.

A Celebration of Husser's Life will be held on Thursday July 11, 2024 at 7 o'clock P.M. from the funeral home. Friends may call from 5:30 P.M. until the time of services.
