George W. "Bucky" Brimmer, Jr. lifelong resident of Lansford, Pennsylvania having resided on West Abbott Street, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale, Pennsylvania at 96 years of age..
Born Thursday, August 28, 1924. in Lansford the son of the late George W. Brimmer, Sr., and Bertha (Ponting) Brimmer. George was also predeceased by; his beloved wife, Mary Alice (Sassaman) Brimmer on November 30, 2011; daughter, Meryl A. Hodon; sister, Elizabeth Brimmer; brothers, Edward T., Thomas J., Benjamin, and William Brimmer.
Surviving are; daughter, Gwyneth A. Collevechio of Lansford; son, George W. Brimmer, III and his wife Liz of Lancaster; sisters, Roberta Brimmer of Lansford, Nancy Dubosky of Florida; grandchildren, Sara Karnish and her husband Frank, Allison Fredericks and her husband Matt, Brittany Collevechio and her fiance Buddy Balik, Morgan Brimmer, George W. Brimmer IV; great grandchild, Holden Karnish; niece, Renee Mantz of Kutztown.
A 1942 graduate of Lansford High School, George served honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from the United States Post Service after delivering mail to the residents of Lansford for over 30 years. He was a long tenured active member of the former English Congregational Church of Lansford, and current member of the Congregational Church of Coaldale. A 70 plus yr. member of the Lansford Legion, American Fire Company #1. George was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons, Jim Thorpe Lodge, and was active with the Lansford Little League Assoc. especially during his sons playing days. A true gentleman, George loved to take long walks on the mountain, and spending time with family was always a priority.
Bucky was an ardent supporter of all Panther Valley High School sports.
