Frank F. Gerber, Jr., passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton Campus at 84 years of age.
Born August 10, 1937 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania the son of the late Frank F. Gerber Sr., and Gladys (Koch) Gerber.
A Mahanoy Township High School graduate, Frank matriculated to Stephens Trade School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the United States Navy serving honorably for four years, Frank retired from American National Can having worked as a mechanic.
While Frank was working at Revlon in New Jersey, he met his future wife Caroline. They married on Aug 14, 1965, in Edison, NJ and later moved to Tamaqua in 1974 to raise their family. Frank and his late wife Carol, were supportive, involved parents. They were founding members of the Tamaqua Cross Country Booster, and Frank served as Cub Master for Troop # 778 Tamaqua. One of Frank’s lifelong passions was track and field. Throughout his years Frank was a head coach of the Panther Valley High School Track & Field team, and also served as a volunteer coach for both Tamaqua High School and Bartow High School in Florida.
Frank’s strength as a coach and mentor stemmed from being an accomplished Track & Field athlete himself. He competed in the Senior Olympics in Florida where he and Carol retired, participating in the long-jump, triple jump, high jump, javelin, and 4 x100 relay. Frank won many regional and state competitions. In retirement, he enjoyed walks throughout Disney World, playing golf, bowling, bocce ball, and shuffleboard.
Surviving are; daughter Renee L. Gerber - Keich and her fiancé Michael P. Formica; sons, Frank F. Gerber, III and his wife Claudia, Jamie B. Gerber and his fiancée Agnieszka Kmiec., Shawn P. Gerber; brother, Ronald Gerber and his wife Joanne; sister, Suzanne Hile; grandchildren, Derrik and his wife Jacqueline, Nicole and her husband Gabe, Tyler, Emily, Isabel; step grandchildren, Brooke, Brianna; great grandchildren, Oliver, Juliana, Colton, Reagan, Ryleigh, Emma. Many nieces and nephews also survive Frank.
Frank was also predeceased by; his beloved wife, Caroline (DiNardo) Gerber on May 26, 2009; sister, Shirley Flexer; brother, Barry J. Gerber.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 5, 2022 at 11 o'clock from the funeral home, Military Honors to be bestowed. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.
