Eugene L. Hittinger, age 81, of South Lehigh Gorge Drive Weatherly, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Weatherwood Nurisng & Rehabilitaion Ctr. in Weatherly.

A 1948 Weatherly High School graduate, Eugene served in the United States Army. Upon his return home he worked for the Weatherly Foundry, retiring from Tung-Sol of Weatherly. Eugene also assisted the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home of Weatherly for many years.

A member of Legion Post #360 of Weatherly, Eugene belonged to L&L Fire Company of Lehigh Twp., and had been President, and Vice President of Silver Ridge Hunting Club.

An avid outdoorsman, Eugene enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the N.R.A.

Born in Rockport, he was the son of the late Robert and Mae (Lewis) Hittinger.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanne W. (Faust) Hittinger;

Two Daughters,
Karen F. Andrews wife of Dan of Weatherly,
Kim J. (Hittinger) Reigle wife of Michael of Weatherly;

One Son,
Robert E. Hittinger of Freeland;

One Sister,
Joan Pfeiffer of Weatherly;

Nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

Preceded in death by his son, Craig E. Hittinger; grandson, Derrick Hittinger; great grandson, Anthony Lescowitch.

Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries F.D, Supv.. where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, February 16, 2012.

Funeral service will be at Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 16, 2012, Rev. Fredericka Beauchard will officiate.

Interment with Military Honors will be at Union Cemetery of Weatherly.

Memorials in his name to Salem U.C.C. 300 First St. , or Silver Ridge Hunting Club PO Box 67 Weatherly, Pa. 18255.
